Cheshire couple Peter and Rose Balgobin can look forward to escaping the miserable UK winters, now that they own a home in the Costa Blanca, purchased with the help of HomeEspaña.
The Balgobins completed on their two-bedroom apartment in Los Altos near Torrevieja on 16th June 2016. Their property, which came furnished, cost them around €85,000 including fees and taxes.
“It’s our second home, somewhere we can come to enjoy the beach, long walks and just relaxing in the sun,” said Rose. “We’ll visit as much as work commitments allow but are especially looking forward to coming out in the winter months, to get away from the hum drum of the UK. I expect my grown-up children will use it too. We have no plans to rent it out.”
Peter and Rose knew the Costa Blanca from holidays, before deciding to view properties during a visit to Torrevieja in May 2016.
“We came out for a week after researching property on the internet and making contact with HomeEspaña,” continued Rose. “We viewed five properties with them, one being the one we bought. Neil who did our viewings was great and understood our brief straight away. Before we flew back to the UK, we’d had our offer accepted and paid a €2,500 deposit. HomeEspaña also helped us open a bank account, get our NIE number and put us in touch with a currency transfer firm and local lawyer, to whom we assigned power of attorney. They were very helpful throughout the buying process, answering questions and accompanying us to the notary’s office.”
The Balgobin’s first-floor apartment includes a balcony and solarium, and comes with access to a communal pool.
Despite the timing of the couple’s purchase, they were still happy to proceed just before the EU Referendum. “We weren’t put off by this,” added Rose. “In fact, we’re glad we bought when we did as we got a far better exchange rate when we transferred Euros to Spain through our currency firm!”
