The town was designated a UNESCO creative city of gastronomy due to its variety of food, dedication to promoting the Mediterranean diet while still always holding onto their gastronomic traditions. The vast selection of food produce results in a rich variety of delicious Mediterranean dishes, including culinary specialities such as the famous red prawn and tasty sea food paella. It is home to over 300 restaurants, which prepare diverse recipes. Culinary experts and critics claim that the 49th best restaurant in the world is in Dénia – Quique Dacosta. The International Creative Cuisine Competition of the Red Prawn of Dénia also takes place here. This is an internationally recognised food event where 50 chefs participate in.

The Mount Montgó Natural Park is just a few minutes outside of Dénia. Here, you will find an impressive collection of protected flowers, wildlife and birds such as owls, eagles and ravens. From here you can see beautiful views of the nearby hiking trails.
