Fitness fans Traci and Paul Vine are loving the outdoorsy way of life that comes with their new home in Orihuela Costa, bought with the help of HomeEspaña.
The Vines, who live in Eastbourne on the UK’s South Coast, got the keys to their townhouse in Villamartin at the end of September 2019. They decided to buy it in July that year, after visiting the property with HomeEspaña during a viewing trip. “We went out with sales agent Natasha to view four or five properties we’d selected from the website,” recounted Traci. “She slipped in an extra one that she called her wildcard and when we saw it, we loved it. We were flying home the next day so called Natasha up early that morning and asked to view it again, explaining we’d need to move fast if we made a successful offer! She met us there, we made an offer and it was accepted!”
The Vines’ property had recently been reduced to €143,500 from €147,500, but they secured it for a purchase price of €138,500. HomeEspaña helped them set everything up for the purchase before they flew back to the UK, including payment of a deposit and arranging power of attorney.
“Natasha was a great agent,” continued Traci. “She really knew the area well and was personable! HomeEspaña arranged everything for us which was great and when things started to stall, the aftersales manager Helen was excellent.”
For the time being the couple, who have two children aged 18 and 24, will use their home for holidays but they’re planning to move there in early 2023. It’s not the first time they have owned a holiday home – they had somewhere in Turkey but sold it in early 2019 before looking in Spain. They were already familiar with the Orihuela Costa area, as Paul’s parents live in Playa Flamenca. Reaching the Costa Blanca is easy for the Vine family, thanks to regular flights from Gatwick to Alicante, which is just a 40-45 minute transfer.
“We are fitness bunnies and both have bikes in Spain,” enthused Traci. “We love being close to the canal pathway, as it runs for miles and is great for cycling. And we absolutely love running along the costal path which runs from Punta Prima to Campoamor.” Highlights of the Vines’ three-bedroom, two-bathroom townhouse are its huge rooftop terrace and its small private pool. It also has access to a communal pool, while bars and restaurants are only 30 minutes’ walk away.
Villamartin is one of the residential communities that make up Orihuela Costa, the 20-kilometre stretch of coastline that runs south from Torrevieja. Other popular areas there include Punta Prima, Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Los Dolses and Campoamor. The most developed stretch of the Costa Blanca, in Orihuela Costa you’re never far from a great choice of amenities, fantastic sandy beaches and quality golf courses. Other highlights include the La Zenia Boulevard shopping centre and lively strips, with lots of bars and restaurants, not forgetting the pretty coastal promenade.
