To Sonia Hobson’s amazement, HomeEspaña found a buyer for her Spanish house in less than a week!
When Sonia asked HomeEspaña for help selling her terraced house in Cullera, a resort near Valencia, in November 2021 she wasn’t expecting them to have secured her a sale within a couple of days. But sure enough, her listing was barely live before they had a committed buyer!
“I couldn’t believe how quickly it happened,” said Sonia, whose received €43,500 from the sale, which completed in February 2022. “After finding HomeEspaña on the internet and making contact with them, they sent someone immediately to take photos and do a video of my house. Within a day or two they came back and did a viewing with someone who said they would buy it! Before HomeEspaña I had tried selling through other estate agencies and had no luck, so I didn’t have great expectations.”
Even after finding Sonia a buyer, HomeEspaña continued to offer valuable assistance throughout the sale process, in particular sorting out an issue with the property’s electricity supplier.
“Argemary at HomeEspaña was very good,” explained Sonia. “Through circumstances beyond my control, I had an issue with an outstanding electricity bill that needed to be settled before we could complete. So she called the supplier on my behalf and sorted it out. And she accommpanied me to the notary in Valencia on completion day. I don’t speak much Spanish, so this was all very helpful.”
Selling her property through HomeEspaña doesn’t mean one for second that Sonia has left Spain! Originally from Wiltshire, she bought her townhouse and moved to Cullera in 2006, having spent the previous two years in Australia with her son. The property, which was on a hillside and had mountain views, had a sitting/ dining area, kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor, three bedrooms on the first floor and a solarium on the roof.
“It was a bit of a climb to get to it from town,” said Sonia. “It got to a point where I needed to be somewhere flatter, so I actually moved out five or six years ago and rented it out. I moved into a nice rental flat near the seafront in Cullera and I’m still there now. I can walk to everything easily and can see the beach from my front window!”
Cullera is a small resort surrounded by orange groves 38 kilometres south of Valencia city. It has a charming old town that sits on the estuary of the River Júcar, overlooked by Cullera Mountain and its Moorish castle. Its coastline has a selection of long sandy beaches, fringed by more modern apartment blocks that offer easy access to the Mediterranean and the glorious prom.
