“I didn’t know where I was going or what I was doing except that I liked two or three apartments and the price was within my budget,” Aileen recalls. But with the help of HomeEspaña, Aileen successfully completed the purchase of her apartment in Villamartin for €137,000 on 15th April this year.
“I went over and met Jamie at half ten on the Monday and I had put my deposit down by one o’clock,” Aileen says.
The two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment boasts an elevated front terrace leading to a spacious open-plan living room / kitchen area, with a door leading to a small rear terrace with storage sheds, a shower room, a twin bedroom, and a master bedroom.
“Oh my God it’s beautiful. It’s got a massive front terrace, it’s immaculate, I have to do nothing except put my own mark on it,” Aileen says. “For the price that I paid, I genuinely wouldn’t get a shed in Ireland for the same money. I am absolutely amazed – the minute I was in there I knew.”
“Without over exaggerating, I actually couldn’t believe how friendly, how interested, how helpful and just how fabulous they (HomeEspaña) were. Everything I needed, they helped me with. They picked me up and dropped me because I don’t drive – everything. And a six-week turnover from when I paid the deposit to when I got the keys – amazing!”
Aileen has four children, aged between 18 and 35. “They’re loving life at the moment because they can get cheap flights from Cork and have free accommodation (in Orihuela Costa).”
Although the initial plan was to use the apartment as a holiday home, Aileen says she has found “my lovely summer home, hopefully to be my long-term home.”
“Every time I visit, I don’t want to come back home, so it’s not going to be long before I start going over for longer periods of time.”
