[spacer height=”20px”]One trip is all it took for Peter and Sharon Houselander to find their perfect holiday home in the Costa Blanca with the help of HomeEspaña.
The couple from Milton Keynes got the keys to their two-bedroom, two-bathroom terraced bungalow in Villamartín in May 2017, paying just €117,000 for the property, excluding fees and taxes. The Houselanders, who between them have five children and four grandchildren, didn’t know the Costa Blanca until they flew out to view property in March 2017.
“We’d done lots of research about different areas of Spain before our first visit,” said Peter. “The Costa Blanca appeared to tick all the right boxes in terms of amenities, prices and just having everything we needed, so we found some properties on the internet and made arrangements to visit. HomeEspaña were brilliant from the outset and before we’d even met the team we had a good feeling about them. We did viewings with Jamie, who really listened to our requirements and found us our property without any pressure selling.”
The same day that the couple first saw their property they had an offer for it accepted and paid a deposit. Before flying back to the UK, HomeEspaña helped them organise everything they needed to complete the sale.
“Amy was assigned to hand-hold us throughout the buying process and she was fantastic,” continued Peter. “She took us to the bank to open an account, referred us to an independent lawyer, introduced us to the notary, took us to get photos done for our NIE application and even helped track down some of the outside furniture that went missing after we’d agreed for it to be included in the price. She also gave us details of a reliable local plumber and electrician.”
The Houselanders’ property is in the Pau 8 area of Villamartín. Highlights include the roof terrace, which covers the entire footprint of the property and comes with a hot tub and conservatory. It also has terraced areas at the front and back, with rural views to the rear.
“A bonus is that it’s nestled between the walls of two taller buildings on both sides, so we’re not overlooked at all,” continued Peter. “We really like the local area, being close to everything. We envisage visiting three times a year for the time being – Sharon perhaps more as she’s retired, and we’ll let close friends and family use it too. We’re not planning to rent it out.”
Pau 8 is 10-15 minutes’ walk from the lively Villamartín Plaza, with its selection of retail outlets, bars, restaurants, banks, taxi rank and local bus stop. It is equally close to the Villamartín Golf Club. Other golf courses within ten minutes’ drive are at Las Colinas, Campoamor and Las Ramblas. The sandy Blue Flag beaches of Orihuela Costa, including La Zenia, are just five minutes’ drive away, as is the Zenia Boulevard shopping mall. Airports with UK flights are at Alicante and Murcia San Javier, 45 minutes’ and 20 minutes’ drive away respectively.
