From Tourist to Local – How to Feel at Home in Spain
You’ve fallen in love with Spain – the sunshine, the lifestyle, the charm of its towns and cities. But what happens when the holiday ends and real life begins?
If you’re thinking about buying a home in Spain, you’ve probably been dreaming about living near one of the many beautiful, blue flag beaches. For lots of expats who have made the move to Spain, or have bought a holiday home here, that dream is a reality!
With this in mind, our property experts have purposely chosen some of the very best beachside properties we have on offer – with a view to helping make your dream life in Spain come true! Our selection covers a variety of budgets and coastal areas – so let’s take a look…
Let’s begin in Valencia and work our way down the coast through the Costa Blanca to the Costa Cálida (Murcia). Valencia is a bustling city but is a city with a number of beaches! The two main beaches are located just a stone’s throw from the city centre – Patacona and La Malvarrosa – with El Puig and Port Saplaya beaches to the north and El Saler and Cullera beaches to the south. Valencia beaches are wide sandy beaches with varying kinds of facilities. Our first property is a 3 bed duplex in the beachside area and port know locally as ´Little Venice´ – a short drive from the city centre.
Port Saplaya | €480,000
Ref: VLC7037
As we hit the Costa Blanca, the amazing coastline varies between long stretches of white, sandy beaches and small rocky coves at the bottom of towering cliffs. Living in places such as Oliva, Denia, Javea, Moraira and Calpe – in fact anywhere along the Costa Blanca – you are never far from a fantastic beach. Our experts have chosen 2 Denia properties – a 3 bed apartment within a short 5 minute stroll to the beach and brand new apartments (ready in 2023) just a short walk to La Marineta beach.
Denia | €315,000

Denia | €217,000

The Costa Blanca is famous for its beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters, and some of the best beaches can be found in the southern Costa Blanca. The beaches here are smaller compared to some of the stretching beaches in the north but they are arguably more beautiful. You can find lots of properties for lower budgets here in the south. Areas like Campoamor, Cabo Roig, La Zenia, Playa Flamenca and Punta Prima are immensely popular for holiday homes, as well as year round living – and for very good reason. The majority of properties in these areas are located within a 5-10 minute drive of the beach – a lot are within walking distance. You really will find some great value properties in these areas.
As we are focussing on beachside properties, we have chosen a 2 bed apartment just 280 meters from the beach in Mil Palmeras, Torre del la Horadada and another 2 bed apartment located in the Bioko Delux Beach & Spa Resort in Cabo Roig, 1 minute from the beach.
Torre de la Horadada | €216,900

Bioko Delux Beach & Spa Resort Cabo Roig | €415,000
Ref: HEN27059
The Costa Cálida is Murcia´s coastline and is a popular location for international buyers, for both holiday homes and year round living. It has a relaxed vibe and affordable property. Popular beachside areas include Los Alcazares, Lo Pagan, Mar Manor, Santiago de la Ribera, San Pedro del Pinitar, Los Urrutias, Mar de Cristal and Playa Honda.
Here we have chosen properties close to the Mar Menor – a frontline (literally on the beach) 3 bed apartment in Lo Pagan and a 2 bed villa in Playa Honda, located 250 metres from the idyllic Paraiso beach.
Lo Pagan | €129,995
Ref: MH19606
Playa Honda | €295,000

So, there you have a brief selection of beachside properties from Valencia through the Costa Blanca and down to the Costa Cálida. If you are considering a property purchase here in Spain, whether for lifestyle or investment, remember you really can make that dream of living near the beach come true!
